OSCAR DAFFODIL DAYS

London crooner Oscar posted his debut single on cult UK indie, Wichita Recordings, this week. The 23-year-old - full name, Oscar Scheller - steps out of the bedroom for the first time with 'Daffodil Days', a crisp, breezy indie-pop ditty which will endear him to fans of old Blur and new Damon Albarn alike.

It's a track that might never have been, though, as Oscar told FADER: “It all started out on one of those dark winter evenings, when everything felt wrong. I was having a pretty bad day and as I was texting a friend, the word ’difficult’ turned to ’daffodil’ by a stroke of autocorrect genius. It really made me laugh and somehow made a lot of a sense.” Packed with perfumed guitar hooks and quirky observational wordplay, it's a generation-spanning tune, soaking up the best of Britpop to the new wave of sensitive DIY and lo-fi, inspired by artists like Trust Fund, Joanna Gruesome and Connan Mockasin. 'Daffodil Days' is out on March 1, aptly to coincide with St. David's Day. - DC
